Can you use food coloring in soap making. I am new to home made soap making and have been doing research for products. If you want to use natural soap colorants i d advise using a soap recipe that makes pure white bars. For instance annatto is what gives macaroni and cheese its orange color and cochineal is used to color hawaiian punch. I m not planning on using a lot just enough to tint the soap to make it more appealing.
Natural soap colorants list nearly all of these ingredients can be found in your kitchen local grocery store or from soap making suppliers. Soap recipes with a lot of dark or golden oils can create soap that reflects the colors of those oils. You can buy soap dyes but i was wondering if this was not the same as food coloring. There are also soap colorants available online micas liquid pigments mineral pigments and glitter for example.
Just remember that dyes will bleed so if you try to marble a soap there won t be a defined line between the two colours. It is safe to use food coloring in soap however they will usually morph change to a different color when used in cold process or hot process soap. They have the likelihood of mixing with your added color and creating a mix.
